Welcome back swimmers and parents, I hope
everyone had a wonderful Christmas and New Year's and
are excited to get back in the water. We will resume
practice this Saturday January 7th with the following
schedule,
Pre-Competitive: 8:00-9:00am
Squads 1-3: 9:00-10:30am
Squads 4-6: 10:30am-12:30pm
Our normal practice schedule will resume on
Sunday January 8th.
November 25, 2011
Congratulations to all the swimmers who took
part in the 2011 Fall Classic November 11-13 at the
Aquarena. This was one of the biggest meets the Province
has ever had with over 340 swimmers from all over the
Island. 49 Bluefin swimmers took part in the meet and
all had a fantastic weekend with over 1,600
seconds
of time improvement (an all time club high for a single
meet) to go along with 7 Club Records and 2 new East
Coast Champs qualifiers achieved by Andrew Rose
and Matt Rose.
Congratulations to Megan Matthews who
was name the top swimmer in the 12 year female age
category. Megan achieved the highest FINA point total of
all the distance swims (400, 800, 1500 Free). Congrats
Megan!

The team now prepares for our first travel meet
of the year as 16 Bluefin swimmers travel to Toronto
December 1-4 to take part in the Annual Youth Cup and
Mega City Invitationals hosted by the North York Aquatic
Club at the Etobicoke Olympium. At the same time the
reminder of the team will head to Carbonear to
particiapte in the Poseidon Provincial Invitational
where swimmers will be swimming heats and finals.
We have a great weekend of swimming ahead of us, best of
luck to all swimmers!

Congratulations to all the swimmers who took
part in the Fall Provincial Development meet in Deer
Lake and the Fall Provincial Performance meet in CBS
October 14-16. The Bluefins had a fantastic start to the
season with 30 swimmers competing and racing very well
to start the year.
In CBS the swimmers swam all of the 50m and
100m events along with the 200 IM, there were great
performances done by everyone with dozens of personal
bests as well as a new club record set by David Haines
in the 15 & Over 50m Back in a time of 28.82. New all
time top 10 swim were achieved by Rebecca Hollett (100
Breast), David Haines (50, 100, 200 Back and 100 Fly),
Alex Badcock (50, 100 Breast & 50, 100 Fly),
Jordan
Murphy (100 Back) and Matt Rose (100 Back)

Rose (3rd Place, 13-14 Men) and Bryan Wadden (2nd Place,
13-14 Men)
In Deer Lake, 9 swimmers took to the water with
increadible results, Andrew Rose,
Olivia Cumbie and
Alyssa Davis all achieved 100% personal best times. All
9 swimmers had a great showing swimming 50m, 100m and
200m events. Alyssa Davis cracked the all time club top
10 in the 50 Back to go along with her 1st place top
achiever finsih in the girls 13-14 category. Also a big
congratulations to Andrew Rose who achieved his first
East Coast Championship time standard to go along with
his 3rd place top achiever finish in the boys 12 & Under
category.
Bluefin swimmers will now be working very hard
preparing for the largest swim meet of the season, the
2011 Fall Classic where over 350 swimmers from all over
the Provincial will take over the Aquarena for a great
weekend of fast swimming!
